'12 Years of slavery' and 'Gravity' monopolize the Oscars

What makes the 86th edition of the Oscars different from the others? Fundamentally the radically different nature of the two winning films.

The space motion picture "Gravity" has won 7 Oscars - the best director and six more technicians - but Steve McQueen's hard drama has won the award for the best film in this edition.

Cate Blanchett has won the Oscar for best actress for "Blue Jasmine" and Matthew McConaughey for best actor for "Dallas Buyers Club".
